Meet The Team

Fred has been a proud Rockaway resident for the past eight years and a passionate advocate for the local dog community.  As the loving owner of two adopted dogs (Max & Scoobie), he has spent countless hours at the Rockaway Freeway Dog Run, not only enjoying the space but also actively contributing to its upkeep over the years.  Dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment for pets and their owners, we are thrilled to have him be a part of the Tail Waggers Task Force, working to improve and sustain the dog park for the community.

Tjamal is the dad of Roxy, a 9 year old “baby” pitbull (and a couple cats).  Living in Rockaway Beach for over 25 years, and working in Television/Film as a Locations Scout during that time.  He loves spending time with Roxy at the dog park and on occasional adventures around the Rockaways and beyond.  Tjmal is dedicated to creating a safe and fun space for dogs and their humans.   In addition enjoys grilling, baking and confectionery making.

Latanya has been a proud Rockaway resident for 20 years and is a devoted dog mom to Teddy Devonté. With a career in finance, she balances her professional life with a love for travel and a passion for learning new things.  Latanya is deeply committed to ensuring that every pup lives their best life during their precious time with us.  Her dedication to the well-being of dogs and her community spirit make her an invaluable member of the Tail Waggers Task Force.

Orisha is a dedicated member of the Tail Waggers Task Force, committed to enhancing the Rockaway Freeway Dog Run. A longtime Rockaway Beach resident and proud fur Mom to Roxie, his sweet 9-year-old Pit Bull, Orisha is passionate about ensuring a safe and enjoyable space for dogs and their families. A loyal Buffalo Bills fan, she frequents the dog park regularly, where her enthusiasm and community spirit shine through in her efforts to support the park's upkeep and welcoming atmosphere.

Prior to her retirement, Susan taught English in NYC public high schools for 35 years.

Coming from a family of animal lovers, she has had two (or more) canine roommates sharing her home for her entire adult life, and, of course, all of them have been rescues. Susan is a long-time member of the Rockaway community and is active in various local organizations such as The Rockaway Women for Progress, The Rockaway Theatre Company, and of course, a valued member of The Tail Waggers' Task Force.​

As a lifelong Rockaway resident and dedicated dog mom to two senior pups—Bentley, a 14-year-old Havanese, and Shelby, a sweet yet spirited 15-year-old Dandie Dinmont Terrier/Poodle mix—Cassandra has cherished the Rockaway Freeway Dog Run for 14 years.  Her passion lies in ensuring the park remains a safe and welcoming space where dogs and their humans can socialize and build community.  With a commitment to the well-being of our furry friends, She strives to help create an environment that fosters connection, joy, and responsible pet ownership.
